Bible School History

The qualities that distinguish the Community Bible Institute (CBI) from other institutions were set forth by God through the illustrious and renowned founder, the late Dr C.R. Johnson. Under the leading of the Holy Spirit, CBI was incorporated in September 1979 as a non-profit Christian Institution.

CBI, originally limited to certificate programs, now has expanded both in breadth and depth to fulfill the changing needs of the Christian world. The student may earn a certificate or degree (Bachelor's Masters or Doctorate degree), provided he or she satisfies the respective requirements.

CBI is now housed in a five-story brick building at 600 Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. It does not receive any funds from the State or City of New York, or any other government agency It is totally financed by students' fees, freewill offerings and gifts. The Community Bible Institute is a member of the Worldwide Accrediting Commission of Christian Educational Institution Richmond, VA. As a member of this commission, two copies of all on-site studies are on file with the Library of Congress in Washington, D C. Tx-863-515 dated 3/2/82.

CBI is devoted and committed to developing Christian character and scholarship. We believe that the Bible is the divine and inerrant Word of God, and thus the final authority for faith and practice
